Come here to enjoy a drink and the view, but not for the food.

The cafe on the top of the Centre Georges Pompidou has a panoramic view of Paris and is quite pleasant in warm weather. Beware though – the food is mediocre at best

The decor and prices are as one would expect from a modern art museum

Le Procope

One of the oldest operating restaurants in the world (opened in 1686!) le Procope has a long history of welcoming artistic, political, and literary figures.

While the food today is uninspiring, Voltaire’s table can still be seen. The cafe attracts a mixed bag of writers, journalists, university professors, models, businessmen, and assorted tourists

La Closerie des Lilas (inside)

One of Hemingway’s favorite haunts, the restaurant was opened on 1920. There is a wonderful terrace in the summer, an upscale restaurant and an affordable club-like bistro.

The bar makes great cocktails and a piano player is almost always tinkling away.

Check out the brass name plates on each table to see which poet or writer used to while away the hours there!
